The brief for this Warkworth home was to create a proper outdoor room beside the house: sheltered enough to use often, open enough to stay connected to the garden, and detailed so it felt like a permanent part of the property.

We built a freestanding gable structure beside the home rather than relying on the existing house for support. The matte black frame and COLORSTEEL FlaxPod Matte roof give the room a crisp architectural profile, while clear acrylic glazing through the roof and gable ends keeps daylight moving through the space.

Completed in November 2025, the project also included a new deck and fireplace, turning the covered area into a complete outdoor living space. Warm cedar tongue-and-groove lining, pendant lighting and recessed lights finish the room for dining, lounging and year-round entertaining.
