The brief
An extension of the living space.
The client wanted to extend the living space out onto the deck, creating a covered zone that felt like part of the house rather than an add-on. We looked at both pitched and box-perimeter options to see what would sit best against the existing facade.
The design
A straight line outside. A fall within.
Pitched and box-perimeter options were considered against the facade. The taller perimeter beam was chosen to align with the house geometry, concealing the four-degree roof fall and gutters behind a straight outer edge. Screens were coordinated with the covered deck.
